Mother's Day

   Приближается замечательный праздник - День Матери! Мы поздравляем всех мам с наступающим праздником!
   В 5а, 5б и 6а классах прошли тематические уроки на тему "Mother's Day".

Цель: мотивация изучения английского языка.
Задачи:
- совершенствовать лексический навык;
- расширять кругозор учащихся;
- формировать лингвострановедческую компетенцию;
- воспитывать толерантное отношение к культуре других стран.
  На уроке ребята посмотрели презентацию о празднике, выполнили задание в группах (в игровой форме) и написали открытку-поздравление на английском языке для мам. Вот что у нас получилось! Предлагаем Вашему вниманию небольшой фотоотчет.

Районная олимпиада по английскому языку

21 ноября прошел районный этап всероссийской олимпиады по английскому языку. Наши результаты:
1. Давыдова Дарья (8 класс) - 14 место, 45 баллов из 80 (всего 22 участника в этой возрастной категории);
2. Абасова Рената (11 класс) - 76 место, 35 баллов из 80 (125 участников в данной возрастной категории);
3. Попова Дарья (11 класс) - 85 место, 34 балла из 80 (125 участников в данной возрастной категории).

Jigsaw Stories

Уважаемые коллеги! Представляю вам материал для совершенствования навыка в чтении.

Jigsaw Stories: A Motivating Way of Reading.

   Sometimes it is quite difficult to cope with large classes, especially if you want students to read a passage or book they are not interested in. What can we do to encourige our students to practise reading? It has to be a lively activity; otherwise students will soon get bored. Jigsaw stories could be the answer.

How to proceed

First of all we make groups of four or five people.

1. Pre-reading activity: The teacher writes the title of the jigsaw story on the blackboard. Then students brainstorm to think about what is going to happen in the story.

2. Reading activity: 

a) The teacher gives each group a pack of cards which contains as many cards as there are phrases in the jigsaw story. These phrases previously been written or typed on the cards.

b) The teacher tells the groups to put the card on their tables and look at them for a few minutes.

c) The groups are then asked to put the cards in the right order.

d) If a group says they have finished, the teacher will check. The groups get 10 points if their story is in the right order; if it is not, they are told to try again, but now the teacher will tell them which sentences are not in the right order. The next time the teaher checks this group's story, they will get a maximum of 8 points if the order of their story is correct, the 3rd time a maximum of 6 points, the 4th a maximum of 4 points, etc. Who is the winner? The group that gets the most points.

3. Post-reading activity: the group are asked to make up their own jigsaw stories. The best jigsaw story can be used in another class.

Reading Off the Wall

Уважаемые коллеги! Предлагаю вашему вниманию полезный метод для развития умений в чтении.

Reading Off the Wall.

This activity encourages the students to work on their reading speed in cooperation with students who read faster. Pieces of paper with answers to pre-reading questions are put on the wall around the room. Students can circulate in pairs searching for five answers to match questions they have. The first pair to finish wins. Students sit down and discuss the questions and answers.

“Off the wall” can be adopted in a multitude of ways for during reading tasks as well. When students are reading off the wall it helps if the reading is enlarged on a photocopy machine. It’s a reliable technique because it transforms reading from a sit down task to a milling task; weaker students can divide up the task with stronger readers (e.g. each student takes a certain number of questions). Students can work in pairs and also in triads. Students who finish early can help team members who are still working the activity can be made into a competition so students are encouraged to read quickly. Slow readers are not put on the spot, and the teacher does have to worry about additional tasks. The same list of questions can be made easier or harder depending on the order they follow. The tasks below go from easiest to hardest.

Reading questions parallel the order in which the answers are revealed in the text. Questions are scrambled, so that the answers do no come in the order revealed in the text.

Внеклассное мероприятие на тему "Бал не совсем чистой силы"

Был проведен бал 01. 11. 2014 в 6б классе

Цель мероприятия:

- знакомство с историей возникновения праздника;

- расширение знаний учащихся о стране изучаемого языка.

 - формировать интерес и уважение к культуре, традициям, достопримечательностям англоязычных стран;

Mini Saga

The mini-saga in class.

A mini-saga has exactly fifty words that can be used effectively in class in a variety of ways. A mini-saga should tell a story, it cannot describe a mood or some beautiful scenery only. This type of story has been popularized by Keeler. I tried it out in class and found that this type of story was great to use with children adult beginners and pre-intermediate students. The reason was that they enjoyed this type of story. First of all mini-sagas are relatively short, students rarely get tired of reading them. Mini-sagas may also be used for a lively discussion or for a variety of other interesting activities. The students can also write mini-sagas of their own. Fifty words of homework or composition will not tire them. At last the teacher may run a class or a school composition.

The following shows two alternative ways a story can be presented. It is not difficult to see which of them is easier to read for children as well as adults.

There was once a sailor who thought that the earth was flat. He wanted to discover new continents. He sailed south. Then he sailed west. Next he sailed north. After many days at sea, he saw the land. “I have discovered a new continent!” But it was only his own village…

A mini-saga is short enough to be divided into lines of varying length, containing either short sentences or parts of longer sentences.

Британский бульдог

16 декабря 2014 года будет проводиться игровой конкурс по английскому языку «British Bulldog». 
Конкурсные задания подготовлены для 4-х возрастных групп: 3-4, 5-6, 7-8 и 9-11 классы. 
Участникам будет предложено ответить на 60 вопросов различной степени сложности за 75 минут.
Задания разделены на блоки (по 10 вопросов в каждом), направленные на различные виды языковой деятельности (знание грамматики, лексики, понимание связного текста, понимание речи). Первые 10 вопросов – аудирование. С содержанием предыдущих конкурсов можно ознакомиться на сайте runodog.ru. 
Участие в конкурсе – добровольное. Регистрационный взнос в Санкт-Петербурге и Ленинградской области составляет 66 рублей с каждого участника. 
До 14 ноября 2014 года необходимо подать заявку на участие!

Онлайн-тестирование

В октябре проводилось on-line тестирование по грамматике английского языка от издательства Macmillan. Учащиеся нашей школы тоже попробовали свои силы.
